Happy Holidays!!

We hope everyone is doing well this holiday season! As we round out the year, I would like to give some updates on our group. First, the Farmington Hills High Risk Response Team just celebrated our 6th Anniversary!!! It's hard to believe it has been that long already. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team members, we are going strong and word is quickly spreading about the work our team has accomplished to help victims of Domestic Violence.

In September, three members of our team traveled to San Diego, CA to present information about our group to various agencies throughout the country. The response was overwhelmingly positive! People were amazed that the FHHRRT has a continuing commitment to devote their time, efforts and compassion to help those in Domestic Violence situations. This, coupled with conducting training, case reviews and compiling statistics to aid us in our efforts-all WITHOUT funding-was found very intriguing by the attendees! But most of all, communication is the key. There are many people who handle Domestic Violence cases-everyone from police, the court, hospitals, victim's advocate groups (HAVEN) and outside agencies who work with the victims. Being able to flag the high risk cases is our goal and ensuring proper measures are taken to keep all involved safe.

Next, thanks to efforts by our group, the number of referrals to HAVEN have dramatically increased! Here is the breakdown beginning in 2011 of the number of referrals made to HAVEN over the years. (Our group was started in December 2012.)

2011=1 referral

2012=8 referrals

2013=103 referrals

2014=130 referrals

2015=145 referrals

2016=251 referrals

2017=230 referrals

The city of Auburn Hills started their High Risk Response Team just over a year ago and we're told it's going strong! Kudos to them!
